VRT, MIP, & MPR

The five video clips below (Video clips 1-5) provide information about image post-processing techniques utilized in Computed Tomography.

Post processing is really computer manipulation of image data. The image information (data) is collected while the patient is being scannned (This is called the data acquisition phase) .

We are familiar with the two dimensional (2-D) images of the heart shown below in axial, saggital, and coronal planes.


The technology is now in place for image display in three dimensions (3-D)



and 4-D displays(Three dimensional images in real time...3d+t).

After watching the video clips 1-5 type at least 3 paragraphs describing what is VRT, MIP, & MPR. Give some examples of how they are applied in Computed Tomography to aid diagnosis.
